Senior Data Scientist

MariaDB is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join a small, highly skilled team where your work will directly influence business operations and decision-making. This role offers high autonomy and requires a hands-on approach, working across the full data stack to transform complex data into clear business insights.

Key responsibilities include applying analytical methods such as statistical analysis, regression, clustering, forecasting, and classification to solve real business problems at scale. You will design and build end-to-end analytical solutions, develop and maintain data pipelines and analytical frameworks using Python and SQL, and leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate experimentation and analysis. Additionally, you will build lightweight applications and APIs to deliver models and insights to stakeholders, own data architecture decisions within your domain, and communicate results and recommendations clearly to both technical and business audiences.

The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of professional experience in data science or a related quantitative field. Expert-level proficiency in SQL, particularly with BigQuery and MariaDB, is essential, along with strong Python and/or JavaScript skills for production-quality code. A deep understanding of analytical methods and data architecture is required, as well as proficiency with AI-powered development tools. Excellent communication skills, self-management, and a relentless curiosity and ambition are also key attributes for this role.
