Senior Counsel
Metropolis is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Senior Counsel to lead legal support for one of our regions, working closely with both the Revenue and Operations management teams, and collaborating with other members of the legal team. This role offers the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technology in the urban mobility industry, contributing to the company's mission of creating frictionless, checkout-free experiences in the real world.
The Senior Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to one or more business regions or practice groups. Responsibilities include acting as a proactive and trusted business partner, offering legal and business counsel on a wide variety of contract-related issues, compliance matters, and risk assessments. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts, including complex software as a service (SaaS) agreements, client agreements, procurement agreements, information technology agreements, government contracts, commercial leasing agreements, and consulting agreements. Additionally, the Senior Counsel will coordinate the resolution of business disputes and manage outside counsel as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a law degree and be currently licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice law in Illinois, Tennessee, or New York. A minimum of 7 years of progressive work experience in a corporate law department or a business/transactional practice group of a law firm is required. Extensive experience with a wide variety of commercial contracts, including technology, government, and procurement agreements, is essential. The candidate should be hardworking, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative and close-knit team environment. Strong practical decision-making and problem-solving skills, along with exceptional transactional and legal writing abilities, are also necessary.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $175,000.00 to $185,000.00 annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis's total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans, and more.
