The Senior Counsel, Public Policy at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is a pivotal role that advances the organization's strategic objectives through education and advocacy efforts involving direct government action. This position is integral to ADF's government affairs team, focusing on both federal and state legislative initiatives. The role is based in Lansdowne, VA, and Dallas, TX.
In this capacity, the Senior Counsel will advocate for ADF's positions on governmental policies and legislation, emphasizing free speech, government censorship, and private-sector censorship. Responsibilities include conducting research on federal and state court precedents, drafting legislation and policy recommendations, and providing testimony before legislative bodies. The role also involves extensive travel to engage with policymakers and stakeholders.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and be licensed to practice law, with at least five years of experience in public policy advocacy or legislative work at the federal or state level. A minimum of ten years of legal experience is strongly preferred. The position requires strong research, drafting, and communication skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials and policy allies.
