Senior Counsel - Trade

Waymo is seeking a Senior Counsel specializing in trade to join its Legal team. This role involves providing legal support on cross-border shipments, supply chain regulations, and international trade compliance. The position is based in Mountain View, California, with additional locations in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and New York City.

Key responsibilities include advising business teams on issues related to international shipping, interacting with customs officials, and collaborating with the Policy team to engage regulators on trade and supply chain matters. The role also involves developing strategies to comply with evolving international trade regulations and ensuring trade compliance is integrated into project planning.

Candidates must possess a JD degree with a strong academic record, state bar membership, and at least 10 years of relevant legal experience. A solid understanding of cross-border manufacturing and shipping legal issues is essential. Experience in areas such as import and export regulations, equipment certification, customs investigations, sanctions compliance, and forced labor compliance is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to navigate ambiguity and create streamlined processes, are also necessary.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position is between $281,000 and $356,000 USD annually. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in the company's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
