Trade Legal Specialist
Waymo, a leader in autonomous driving technology, is seeking a Trade Legal Specialist to join its Legal team in Mountain View, California. This role involves managing import and export classifications to ensure the seamless shipment of goods, developing and implementing compliance measures for evolving trade and supply chain regulations, and supporting audit processes to maintain regulatory adherence. The specialist will work closely with in-house legal counsel to address trade compliance matters and improve existing processes to scale with business growth.
Key responsibilities include managing import and export classifications for a range of products, developing and updating compliance measures for new or evolving trade regulations, supporting audit processes, maintaining up-to-date information on tariff rates for various technologies, and collaborating with legal counsel to address trade compliance matters. The role also involves improving existing trade compliance processes to align with the company's growth.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience as a trade compliance specialist, preferably in-house. Experience in performing and managing both import and export classifications for a range of products, including off-the-shelf and custom-built items, is essential. Additional qualifications include experience working closely with logistics teams to create documentation for international shipments, conducting trade compliance audits, and collaborating with finance and supply chain teams on tariff projects and payments.
Preferred qualifications include at least 10 years of experience in trade compliance, experience with advanced computing and automotive technologies, drafting and reviewing export licenses, and holding a customs broker license. Experience with product compliance documentation and shipping large volumes of products internationally is also advantageous.
Waymo offers a competitive base salary range of $152,000 to $187,000, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and a comprehensive benefits program.
