Senior Data Scientist - People Analytics (Remote across ANZ)

Canva is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their People Analytics team, focusing on enhancing the company's understanding of operational people data. This role is integral to managing large volumes of data to support Canva's growth and scalability. The position is remote across Australia and New Zealand, offering flexibility in work location.

Key responsibilities include building data foundations across various People domains such as performance, departures, workforce planning, and payroll. The role involves driving data literacy among diverse stakeholders, generating actionable insights, creating intuitive dashboards, simplifying complex data through effective modeling, strengthening data governance, and partnering with analytics engineers to streamline data flow.

The ideal candidate will possess strong SQL and data wrangling skills, familiarity with Snowflake or Redshift, and experience in translating business requirements into key metrics. Proficiency in visualization tools like Looker or Tableau, experience with Python or R, and a solid foundation in statistics or a STEM field are essential. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are vital, along with the ability to align disparate stakeholders around a common goal. Experience with integrated ERPs like Workday and related HR platforms is advantageous, as is hands-on experience using AI to drive impact.
