Senior Director Brand & Product Marketing
Semafor is seeking a Senior Director of Brand & Product Marketing to lead the strategy, narrative architecture, and market positioning that define how the company engages with CEOs, policymakers, investors, and partners worldwide. Reporting directly to the Chief Brand & Strategy Officer, this role involves overseeing the brand and product marketing functions, ensuring that Semafor's journalism, global convenings, and commercial platforms are effectively positioned, packaged, priced, and brought to market. This senior leadership position operates at the intersection of Brand, Editorial, Revenue, Product, and Events, requiring a blend of strategic insight, commercial acumen, and creative vision.
Key responsibilities include developing and refining Semafor's enterprise-level narrative across various products, regions, and stakeholder segments, ensuring cohesive brand expression across platforms and markets. The role also entails leading market research, competitive intelligence, and pricing strategies to inform product positioning and go-to-market approaches. Additionally, the Senior Director will set the strategic direction for product marketing across digital products, newsletters, global convenings, and integrated programs, establishing scalable go-to-market systems and materials. The position also involves equipping the Revenue team with differentiated value propositions and market-facing narratives to strengthen the pipeline and accelerate deal velocity.
The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in brand strategy, product marketing, or platform marketing within a media organization, information services platform, agency, consulting firm, or related sector, with significant experience operating at the intersection of editorial, commercial, and event-driven businesses. A bachelor's degree is required, with an MBA or advanced degree in marketing, strategy, or a related field strongly preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of 5–7 years of progressive management experience, demonstrating a record of building and leading high-performing teams. A deep understanding of media and newsroom operations, digital publishing models, and the execution of newsletters, live journalism, digital platforms, and integrated programs is essential. Proven experience in owning narrative architecture and go-to-market strategy across complex, multi-product portfolios, with measurable business impact, is also required.
The position offers a base salary range of $190,000 to $215,000, plus an annual performance bonus. Semafor provides a Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy for full-time, salaried employees, allowing paid time off as needed without a prescribed limit or defined balance.
