Senior Manager, Tax
Figure is seeking a Senior Manager, Tax to establish and lead its internal tax function. This pivotal role involves developing tax strategies, ensuring compliance, and building scalable processes to support the company's rapid growth. The position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and collaborates closely with Product, Engineering, and Legal teams to assess tax implications of new blockchain lending products and digital asset transactions.
Key responsibilities include managing the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local corporate tax returns in partnership with external advisors, overseeing the quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740), and evaluating tax implications of new business lines and digital asset features. The role also involves monitoring evolving domestic tax laws, particularly those related to digital assets and financial technology, and coordinating responses to federal and state tax audits and inquiries. Additionally, the Senior Manager, Tax will design and implement internal tax controls and workflows to meet public company audit and SOX compliance standards.
Candidates should have over seven years of progressive corporate tax experience, combining Big 4 or top-tier public accounting with high-growth corporate tax environments. An active CPA license is preferred. A deep technical knowledge of ASC 740, US GAAP financial reporting, and corporate federal/state tax compliance is essential. Experience or a strong technical interest in fintech, debt/lending instruments, digital assets, or blockchain-based financial products is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess a "high-ownership" mindset, with a proven track record of driving projects from inception to completion as a self-starter, and excellent communication skills to articulate complex tax risks and concepts to non-tax stakeholders, leadership, and auditors.
