Senior Product Counsel, Consumer
The Senior Product Counsel, Consumer at Roblox will serve as a primary legal advisor to the product and engineering teams, focusing on consumer-facing products. This role involves providing strategic legal guidance to ensure the development and launch of products that comply with applicable laws and regulations. The position is based in San Mateo, CA, and reports to the Director, Product Legal.
Key responsibilities include advising on legal and regulatory considerations related to user signup, account settings, parental controls, age assurance, social interactions, chat features, discovery systems, personalization, and recommendations. The role also involves ensuring compliance with U.S. and international laws concerning content regulation, communications, online safety, consumer protection, and advertising. Additionally, the Senior Product Counsel will coordinate with cross-functional teams, draft and review product policies, user-facing disclosures, and terms of service, and contribute to internal policies, compliance initiatives, and training for product and engineering teams.
Candidates should have over five years of relevant legal experience, preferably a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a consumer-facing technology company. A license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction is required. Experience counseling social media platforms, communications services, or products with parental controls is preferred. Strong business-oriented judgment, the ability to analyze problems and propose solutions, and experience in managing a diverse and complex workload are essential. The role also requires a desire to work on a small but growing team and a track record of collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to overcome complex challenges.
The starting base pay for this position is competitive and dependent upon various factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand.
