Prime Medicine is seeking a Senior Scientist to join its Nonclinical Development group, focusing on safety assessment for investigational new drug (IND)-enabling programs. This role involves designing, executing, and interpreting nonclinical safety studies, with an initial emphasis on liver-targeted therapeutics. The successful candidate will collaborate within cross-functional teams to advance Prime Medicine's gene editing therapies.

Key responsibilities include contributing to nonclinical safety activities as part of discovery and development project teams, supporting program progression through IND-enabling stages. The role involves designing and troubleshooting nonclinical safety studies, including approximately 30% hands-on laboratory work to support assay development and data generation. Additionally, the candidate will oversee nonclinical safety studies conducted at contract research organizations (CROs), analyze and interpret study data, and collaborate with other functions to support exploratory studies and evaluate new delivery approaches.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in toxicology or a related discipline with over six years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, or an M.S. with over ten years of relevant experience in nonclinical safety assessment. Experience in large molecule therapeutic development and a background in immunology are desirable. The candidate should demonstrate strong scientific judgment, leadership, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with external partners.
