Senior Software Development Engineer
Stoke Space is at the forefront of revolutionizing space transportation with its fully and rapidly reusable launch vehicle, Nova. This innovative approach aims to reduce costs, increase availability, and enhance reliability, thereby fostering a scalable space industry. The company is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Boltline team, a commercial software platform designed to streamline hardware manufacturing processes by integrating, tracking, iterating, building, and testing efficiently.
In this role, the Senior Software Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the platform's engineering foundation to ensure it remains secure, compliant, and scalable. Key duties include developing cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Pulumi across AWS GovCloud environments, automating security controls, and maintaining compliance evidence for standards such as SOC 2 and FedRAMP. The engineer will also oversee platform engineering initiatives, including CI/CD pipeline infrastructure, secrets management, and developer tooling, while contributing to architectural decisions related to platform security, network segmentation, and access control.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or have equivalent experience. A minimum of five years in software or infrastructure engineering within production environments is required. Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Python, Go, or TypeScript, is essential for automation and tooling. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi or Terraform, along with a solid understanding of AWS services—including IAM, networking, and security—is necessary. Familiarity with security control frameworks like SOC 2, NIST 800-53, or FedRAMP, and a strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices are also important. Excellent collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams are crucial, as is the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, compliance-sensitive environment.
Compensation for this position includes a base salary ranging from $154,350 to $231,525 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits encompass equity in the form of stock options, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid life and disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, four weeks of paid time off, ten holidays (including an end-of-year closure), paid family/parental leave, and access to an on-site gym or a monthly wellness stipend, depending on location. The work environment is dog-friendly, reflecting the company's commitment to a positive and inclusive culture.
