Senior Software Engineer, Square Financial Services
Block is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Square Financial Services (SFS) Bank Platform team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the core banking infrastructure that supports Block's diverse financial products and services. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing new banking features, collaborating with various engineering teams, and ensuring the security and compliance of our systems.
In this role, you will design and build new features into our banking platform that meet the diverse needs of Block's broad portfolio of products and services. You will partner with engineering teams across Block to help onboard their products to SFS, build systems that operate on our customers' most sensitive data, and ensure the continued operation of our critical services. Additionally, you will lead the technical design, execution, and delivery of large-scale features, mentor teammates to elevate engineering standards, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 1 year leading large-scale features. Hands-on experience building software products or services in the cloud, particularly using AWS, is essential. Proficiency in Kotlin and experience building public APIs are also required. A strong sense of customer empathy, excellent communication skills, and a background in developing financial infrastructure, especially ledgers or systems-of-record requiring high consistency and correctness, are highly desirable.
