Senior Supervising Attorney, Immigrant Justice
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is seeking a Senior Supervising Attorney to join its Immigrant Justice Advocacy and Litigation Impact Team (IJ ALIT). This role focuses on developing and litigating cases that address constitutional and statutory claims in federal, state, and administrative courts, as well as leading multi-strategy advocacy campaigns to advance the rights of immigrants and migrants. The position involves supervising staff attorneys and legal support staff, contributing to SPLC's mission of protecting and vindicating the rights of marginalized communities.
Key responsibilities include leading the implementation of SPLC’s immigrant justice legal advocacy strategies, particularly in the Southern United States. The Senior Supervising Attorney will develop, lead, and supervise complex civil rights impact cases, manage litigation teams comprising attorneys, paralegals, analysts, investigators, fellows, and legal interns, and collaborate with various departments within SPLC to advance organizational goals. Additionally, the role involves serving as a public thought leader on issues affecting immigrant communities and representing SPLC in media and public forums.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience leading and litigating complex individual, multi-plaintiff, and class action cases in federal, state, and administrative courts, with a focus on litigation based on the U.S. Constitution and federal statutes, including the Immigration and Nationality Act. Proven success in supervising and developing legal teams, effective leadership in project management, and experience working with community organizations and grassroots campaigns aimed at protecting the rights of immigrants and migrants are essential. Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to SPLC’s mission, vision, and values are also required.
This is an exempt role with a minimum starting salary of $164,864.00 annually, commensurate with experience. SPLC offers a comprehensive benefits package to its staff.
