Software Engineer – AI Powered Engineering
IMC is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Agentic AI engineering team, focusing on integrating agentic AI into developer workflows for production-critical systems. This role involves building agents, MCP servers, and evaluation loops to ensure AI-generated code is reliable, auditable, and efficiently deployable. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois, within a collaborative environment that emphasizes high-impact AI integrations at scale.
Key responsibilities include implementing agents, MCP servers, and supporting services that propose and apply changes to large codebases. The engineer will assist in developing retrieval systems that provide AI agents and developers with accurate, up-to-date context from extensive codebases and design artifacts. Additionally, the role involves building compile, test, and evaluation pipelines to measure and improve AI-generated changes, applying best practices in concurrency, telemetry, configuration hygiene, and performance-sensitive code paths to ensure reliability and idiomatic outputs.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, with strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and systems. Proficiency in a high-level programming language, preferably Java or Python, is required, along with experience contributing to developer-facing or production systems. A curiosity and eagerness to learn about AI/LLM application patterns, even without prior direct experience, is essential. Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment are also important.
The base salary for this role ranges from $180,000 to $200,000 USD annually. In addition to the base salary, full-time, permanent positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and benefits, including paid leave and insurance.
