Software Engineer -Backend
Modulr is seeking a Software Engineer - Backend to join their dynamic team in Pune. As a rapidly growing fintech company, Modulr specializes in providing embedded payment solutions that enable businesses across the UK and Europe to efficiently manage funds through various payment schemes, accounts, and card products. The successful candidate will be part of a cross-functional team dedicated to solving complex problems and contributing to the development of Modulr's industry-leading API platform.
In this role, the Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java (version 8 or higher) and related technologies such as Spring and Hibernate. Responsibilities include building and evolving microservices, ensuring system performance and reliability, and collaborating with team members to identify and implement software solutions. The engineer will also be involved in creating well-documented RESTful APIs, working with relational databases like PostgreSQL, and contributing to architectural patterns that support scalability and observability.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in Java or similar object-oriented languages, with a willingness to work in Java. A strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and distributed systems is essential. Experience with microservices architecture, REST API design, and familiarity with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Cucumber, and Mockito are required. Knowledge of DevOps technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and BASH is beneficial. The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
