Software Engineer - Python and K8s
Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team focused on developing open source software operations code in Python, running on Kubernetes. This role involves working across the entire Linux stack, from kernel to networking to applications, to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our open source information systems. As a globally distributed company, we offer a remote work environment with opportunities for in-person collaboration at company events.
Key responsibilities include designing and delivering open source software operations code in Python, ensuring application and infrastructure reliability, and developing high-quality monitoring and alerting infrastructure. The role also involves simplifying open source operations for our customers and the community, following agile software development practices, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field. Required qualifications include strong Python development skills, familiarity with Kubernetes, experience with Linux systems administration and package management, and hands-on experience with at least one public cloud platform. The candidate should also be organized and committed to delivering high-quality software in a timely manner.
Compensation is based on geographical location, experience, and performance, with annual reviews to recognize outstanding performance. In addition to base pay, we offer a performance-driven annual bonus or commission.
