Canonical is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a remote team focused on developing next-generation private cloud infrastructure. This role involves combining KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies to create scalable, mission-critical cloud solutions for enterprise deployments. The position is available remotely in EMEA and the Americas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of remote engineers, fostering their professional growth through coaching and mentoring. Key responsibilities include setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders, advocating for modern software development practices, participating in code and architectural reviews, and engaging with the open-source community and partners. The role also requires global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Applicants should have a strong understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes. A proven track record in developing and growing engineering talent is essential. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field, possess strong written and verbal technical communication skills, and have experience programming in C and/or Go.
