Sr Accountant
BESIX Group is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting and financial management of joint ventures engaged in project-based activities. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to accounting standards, and effective collaboration with both internal teams and external partners. The Senior Accountant will also progressively assume leadership responsibilities, acting as a backup to the Team Leader within the department.
Key responsibilities include managing the complete accounting cycle for multiple joint ventures, preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly financial reports, and maintaining precise bookkeeping through journal entries, reconciliations, and closing processes. The role also involves monitoring cash flow, project costs, and partner allocations, as well as preparing financial summaries for joint venture participants. Coordination with project managers, partners, auditors, and external accountants is essential to ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and internal procedures. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will assist with audit processes and contribute to the improvement and maintenance of accounting procedures and internal controls.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of comprehensive accounting experience, preferably in project accounting, joint ventures, or the construction industry. A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting is required, as well as excellent analytical and organizational skills. The ability to work independently and proactively while coordinating with multiple stakeholders is crucial. Fluency in English is mandatory, with professional proficiency in French or Dutch being highly desirable. Experience with joint venture accounting, international or project-driven environments, and knowledge of ERP accounting systems are considered advantageous.
