Sr. Manager, Broker-Dealer Financial Operations & Controls
Betterment is seeking a Senior Manager to oversee the financial operations and controls of its broker-dealer entity, which safeguards over $65 billion in assets for more than one million customers. This role is integral to the Firm Operations Team, responsible for dividend and corporate action processing, reconciliations, internal controls, and regulatory and financial reporting to ensure compliance with FINRA and SEC financial responsibility rules.
The Senior Manager will be responsible for daily reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, monitoring firm liquidity and net capital, and overseeing transactional processes including money movements and securities processing. Additionally, the role involves enhancing and implementing controls related to broker-dealer compliance, preparing and filing regulatory reports such as Reserve Calculations and Net Capital Computations, and acting as the primary liaison with auditors during annual broker-dealer reviews.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, a CPA License Series 27 or the ability to obtain it rapidly, and a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in public accounting, preferably in audit. Experience working with a FINOP at a broker-dealer or clearing firm is advantageous. Strong financial reporting skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
