Sr. Product & Privacy Counsel
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, specializing in the design, manufacturing, and operation of all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The company is committed to advancing sustainable air mobility by creating aircraft capable of carrying four passengers with minimal noise. As part of its growth, Archer is seeking a Senior Product & Privacy Counsel to serve as the primary legal partner for its AI and software product, engineering, and data technology teams.
In this role, the Senior Product & Privacy Counsel will oversee the entire AI and software product development lifecycle, from initial ideation and user experience reviews to launch and post-deployment monitoring. The position involves supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust global privacy program to ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging state and international privacy laws. Additionally, the counsel will establish legal frameworks and policies for the development and use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, addressing issues like data scraping, algorithmic bias, transparency, and intellectual property.
Candidates should have 6–10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with at least 3 years in an in-house legal department. A proven track record of close collaboration with product, security, and data technology teams is essential, particularly in advising on product introduction, data governance, and go-to-market strategies. Deep knowledge of consumer protection regulations and data privacy laws, especially GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, is required. Experience advising on the development and use of Artificial Intelligence products and services, along with related compliance advice, is also necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to translate complex legal concepts for business stakeholders, and a proactive attitude are crucial.
The compensation for this position includes a base pay between $230,000 and $250,000, in addition to bonus and equity components. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
