Sr. Software Engineer
EarnIn is seeking an experienced and resourceful Senior Software Engineer to join our payroll services team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of both frontend and backend services that support our suite of payroll products, including our integration platform and payroll SaaS offering. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, either hybrid from our Mexico City office or remotely within Mexico.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build key backend components such as payroll and tax processing engines, ledger services, and pay cycle management systems. You will develop robust and secure services and APIs using C# and Go (Golang), optimized for performance and maintainability. Collaborating closely with frontend engineers, you will design APIs and data models that enable intuitive and scalable user experiences. Additionally, you will contribute to frontend development, ensuring user-facing features are reliable and accessible. Your role will also involve investigating and resolving production issues, conducting code reviews, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software features within established timelines.
The ideal candidate will have over four years of development experience in a fast-paced environment and hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or possess equivalent industry experience. Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go, Python, or C# is required, along with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices. Experience with modern frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or TypeScript is preferred. Hands-on experience with relational databases, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and managing infrastructure using Configuration as Code tools like Helm, Kustomize, or Terraform is essential. Familiarity with deploying and operating backend services in a Kubernetes-based environment is also desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are crucial.
