Staff Software Engineer (Backend)

EarnIn is seeking an experienced and passionate Staff Software Engineer to join our backend team. In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally to design and develop scalable backend services that power our platform. As a key contributor, you will help shape our technical direction and mentor senior engineers, driving impactful projects that enhance our offerings.

Your primary responsibilities will include architecting and building high-quality, scalable backend services and APIs. You will solve complex problems by designing elegant solutions and writing maintainable, efficient code. Additionally, you will collaborate with and mentor senior engineers, conducting thoughtful code, design, and architecture reviews. Defining technical direction, driving engineering best practices, and contributing to the product roadmap will also be key aspects of your role.

We are looking for candidates with at least 7 years of experience delivering scalable software solutions. A bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience is required. Deep expertise in cloud-native services, infrastructure as code, and distributed systems is essential. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as C#, Kotlin, or Python, is expected. A firm grasp of clean architecture principles and scalable system design, along with experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, is also important. Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively convey technical ideas.

This is a remote position based in Mexico, with potential opportunities to travel to our Mountain View headquarters.
