Sr. Software Engineer, Runtime
As a Senior Software Engineer on Viant's Runtime team, you will manage a high-volume, low-latency ad server application that processes billions of unique requests daily. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology in bid optimization and dynamic performance optimization, as well as develop self-diagnostic and healing architectures. You will deliver scalable, extensible solutions that balance short-term and long-term considerations, collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Technical Operations teams throughout the software lifecycle.
Your primary responsibilities include providing technical expertise to implement and deliver various web and system projects, organizing and participating in design review sessions, and contributing to architectural discussions. You will participate in system testing to ensure quality deliverables, address issues through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance systems with an emphasis on cost, scalability, and fault tolerance. Additionally, you will engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, and work on optimizing application performance, focusing on low-latency and high-throughput requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum B.S. in Computer Science or a related field, with a strong foundation in computer science and object-oriented programming. You should possess over 5 years of professional experience in the software industry, with proficiency in programming languages such as GoLang or Java. Experience with MySQL, Oracle, and other database technologies, as well as AWS and related cloud technologies (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS), is essential. Expertise in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance distributed systems, familiarity with multithreading, concurrency, and low-latency application development, and the ability to effectively identify and resolve project issues in a timely manner are also required. Ad-tech experience is preferred.
Viant offers a competitive base compensation range of $120,000 to $180,000, with final title and compensation based on factors including work experience and education.
