Staff Applied Scientist

Viant Technology is seeking a Staff Applied Scientist to join its Machine Learning team, which is dedicated to revolutionizing the Ad Tech industry through advanced machine learning and AI-driven automation. The team focuses on eliminating manual processes in digital ad creation, optimization, and measurement by developing autonomous, scalable systems that handle hundreds of millions of events daily.

In this role, the Staff Applied Scientist will lead the AI strategy, define the applied science roadmap, and develop next-generation models in natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, and large-scale AI systems. Responsibilities include conducting advanced research in NLP, reinforcement learning, large language models, and deep learning, as well as developing and deploying high-throughput, low-latency machine learning models in collaboration with engineering teams.

Candidates must have at least four years of experience building and deploying machine learning models at scale, with demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from research to production. A strong foundation in deep learning, NLP, generative AI, and causal inference is required, along with proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. Experience with distributed computing and cloud ML platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is also essential.

Viant offers a base compensation range of $180,000 to $220,000, with final compensation based on factors including work experience and education. Benefits include fully paid health insurance, paid parental leave, and unlimited paid time off.
