The Staff Data Scientist - International (CJKI) role at Canva focuses on shaping and executing the data strategy for the China, Japan, South Korea, and India markets. This position involves defining scalable frameworks, region-specific KPIs, and long-term growth metrics that balance global consistency with local nuances. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic thought partner to regional leadership, influencing investment decisions, market expansion priorities, and localization strategies through insight-driven recommendations.

Key responsibilities include translating regional complexities into global influence by embedding the voice of CJKI users into Canva’s global product and growth strategy. Additionally, the candidate will set regional measurement and experimentation standards, guide the design and interpretation of experiments, and oversee the development of scalable data products that provide visibility into user growth, retention, monetization, campaign performance, and product adoption across CJKI and international markets.

The ideal candidate will have over eight years of experience in data, growth, or product analytics, with demonstrated ownership of a major region, business line, or strategic domain. They should have experience as a trusted advisor to C-level stakeholders, influencing decisions at the leadership level. A systems-thinking approach is essential, connecting product, marketing, monetization, lifecycle, and market dynamics into coherent growth strategies. Fluency in English and proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is required to collaborate effectively with local teams and understand cultural nuances. The candidate should also have expertise in designing complex experimentation programs and defining long-term measurement philosophies.
