Staff Software Engineer, Add-on Operations
Mozilla is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Add-on Operations team, focusing on enhancing the Firefox add-ons ecosystem. This role involves working on (AMO), a platform that enables developers to publish and manage their extensions, and provides users with a space to discover and customize Firefox. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the internet for users worldwide.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering major features and architectural improvements across the Add-ons stack, including automated moderation pipelines, reviewer tools, and the Developer Hub. You will collaborate with engineering management to establish operations engineering standards, mentor engineers, and enhance platform reliability through deployments, monitoring, and incident response. Additionally, you will work on full-stack development using React/TypeScript frontends, Django backend, and MySQL datastore, as well as ensure the platform's safety and trustworthiness.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading and building modern web applications, strong proficiency with Python/Django or similar backend frameworks, and a solid understanding of web security principles. Strong collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team environment are essential, along with the ability to navigate ambiguity and shape direction in new problem spaces. Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers is also desired.
