Staff Software Engineer, Add-on Operations
Mozilla is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Add-on Operations team, focusing on enhancing the Firefox add-ons ecosystem. This role involves working on (AMO), a platform that enables developers to publish and manage extensions, and allows users to customize their browsing experience. The position is remote and open to candidates in the UK, Canada, and France.
The Staff Software Engineer will be responsible for planning and delivering major features and architectural improvements across the Add-ons stack, including automated moderation pipelines, reviewer tools, and the Developer Hub. The role includes setting operations engineering standards, mentoring engineers, improving platform reliability through deployments and monitoring, and ensuring the platform's security and user trust. Collaboration with designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors is essential to deliver end-to-end improvements.
Candidates should have experience leading and building modern web applications, strong proficiency with Python/Django or similar backend frameworks, and an understanding of web security principles. Strong collaboration and communication skills in a distributed team environment are essential. The ability to navigate ambiguity, explore solutions, and shape direction in new problem spaces is important. Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers is also required.
