Staff Software Engineer (Platform)
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Platform team at Viant Technology, you will be instrumental in developing software solutions that address complex challenges while aligning with the company's long-term strategic goals. Your role involves delivering scalable and extensible solutions that balance immediate needs with future considerations. You will design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software features, emphasizing cost efficiency, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance. Collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Technical Operations teams is essential throughout the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and beyond.
In this position, you will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of existing projects, as well as participate in the planning and scoping of future initiatives. Responsibilities include full-stack development to enhance Viant's customer-facing platform by adding features, improving user experience, and boosting performance. You will take ownership of functional areas such as API development, observability enhancements, and release process improvements. Managing all phases of the software development life cycle and mentoring team members in software development practices are also key aspects of the role.
Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the software industry. A Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field is preferred. Experience with web application development, including front-end technologies like JavaScript/TypeScript and back-end languages such as Java, C#, C++, or Go, is highly desirable. Familiarity with web services, RESTful services, or microservices, as well as databases like MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or Postgres, is beneficial. Exposure to container-based architectures, NoSQL databases, caching, message queues, and pub-sub technologies is advantageous. Experience with cloud computing platforms, especially AWS and GCP, and a background in AdTech are considered pluses.
Viant Technology offers a competitive base compensation range of $140,000 to $200,000, with the final title and compensation determined based on factors including work experience and education.
