Strategic Finance
FAL is seeking a highly analytical and execution-focused finance partner to join our Strategic Finance team. This pivotal role sits at the intersection of financial planning and business strategy, offering the opportunity to shape the financial foundation of a high-growth AI startup. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with functional leaders to understand AI infrastructure investments and trade-offs, contributing to the company's mission of powering the next generation of AI products.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining unit economics and gross margin models that feed into our operating model and three-statement forecast. Partnering with infrastructure and engineering teams, you will gather cost and capacity data, develop recurring reports on GPU utilization, and analyze COGS drivers and margin trends. Additionally, you will support cross-functional initiatives related to contract negotiations, procurement, and infrastructure investments, while developing KPIs that connect product and infrastructure decisions to financial outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience, combining backgrounds in investment banking or private equity with in-house strategic finance at a high-growth technology company. Experience forecasting usage-based or consumption revenue and costs is essential, along with a strong understanding of accounting concepts and the ability to translate them for non-finance stakeholders. Proficiency in financial modeling, process design, and data architecture is required, as well as strong communication skills and a proactive work ethic.
Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000, complemented by equity and a comprehensive benefits package. The position is based onsite at our downtown San Francisco headquarters, offering high autonomy and real ownership over core financial analysis within a collaborative, mission-driven team.
