Strategic Sales Manager– West Coast Territory, Advisor Custody
Betterment is seeking an experienced and motivated Strategic Sales Manager to drive growth within the advisor custody space, focusing on the West Coast territory of the United States. This role involves identifying, engaging, and closing new business with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and financial advisory firms. As a key member of the sales team, the Strategic Sales Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs while expanding Betterment's market presence.
Key responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities with RIAs and financial advisors within the West Coast region, cultivating and maintaining long-term client relationships, and developing and executing sales strategies aligned with company goals. The role also involves proactively managing the sales pipeline, collaborating with product, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure a seamless client experience, staying current on industry trends and regulatory changes, and providing regular updates on sales activities to senior leadership.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of sales experience in the financial services industry, with a strong background in advisor custody or related sectors such as RIA platforms, custodians, asset management, or fintech solutions. A proven track record of driving revenue growth and building relationships with RIAs and financial advisory firms is essential. The candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and be self-motivated to work independently in a remote, territory-based role. Proficiency in CRM software like Salesforce and other relevant technology platforms is also required.
Betterment offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary ranging from $110,000 to $130,000, plus commission. Additional benefits include a competitive equity package, health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, and a flexible paid time off policy. This position is eligible for variable compensation through a commission bonus.
