Summer 2026 PhD IT Data Science Intern (Business / Operations / Strategy)

Sandisk's Data & AI organization is seeking a Summer 2026 PhD IT Data Science Intern to contribute to the company's digital transformation initiatives. This role involves collaborating with various SG&A functions—including Finance, HR, Procurement, and Legal—to develop advanced analytics, automation, and AI-powered solutions that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

The intern will analyze large, complex datasets to identify patterns and risks affecting cost, revenue, and resource allocation. Responsibilities include developing predictive models for planning and operational decisions, conducting scenario analyses to assess trade-offs under uncertainty, and applying optimization techniques for actions like budget allocation and capacity planning. The role also involves translating business problems into structured analytical frameworks and communicating insights through clear visualizations and presentations.

Candidates must be pursuing a PhD (graduating in 2027) in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. A strong background in areas such as machine learning, operations research, computer vision, predictive modeling, or big data analytics is required. Proficiency with programming and analytics tools like Python and PyTorch is essential, along with the ability to translate research concepts into practical solutions and a collaborative mindset.

The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $64.83.
