Tax Director
The Tax Director at Viant Technology will oversee all aspects of the company's tax function, including strategy, compliance, reporting, and planning. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, optimizing the company's effective tax rate, maintaining compliance with tax regulations, and providing strategic insight to senior leadership. The Tax Director will manage relationships with external advisors and collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and other teams to support corporate objectives and decision-making.
Key responsibilities include overseeing U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance, including the review of corporate and partnership returns, projections, quarterly estimates, and partner distributions. The role also involves supporting the preparation and review of income tax provisions (ASC 740), managing property, business license, sales & use, and other local tax filings, coordinating R&D tax credit studies and Section 174 analyses, leading tax planning and research to minimize liabilities, ensuring compliance with reporting standards and internal controls, and delivering executive-level reporting and insights to support strategic decisions.
The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of relevant tax experience with Big 4 (or equivalent) and/or a large corporate tax department, including U.S. income tax provisions and SEC/statutory reporting. A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required; CPA certification is preferred. Strong background in corporate and partnership income tax compliance, ASC 740, and U.S. GAAP is essential. Experience with public company or private equity-backed tax reporting environments, proficiency in tax process automation and modern tax software, and excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills are also required.
Viant Technology offers a competitive base compensation range of $180,000 to $210,000, along with fully paid health insurance, paid parental leave, and unlimited PTO.
