Technical Author (multiple roles and seniority levels)
Canonical is seeking Technical Authors to lead documentation efforts across various teams and products, aiming to set a new standard of excellence in technical communication. These roles are integral to enhancing user experience and contributing to the long-term success of Canonical's projects.
Key responsibilities include creating, maintaining, and improving software documentation, collaborating with team members to facilitate effective documentation contributions, and engaging with user communities to ensure documentation meets their needs. Technical Authors will also standardize content structure and style across products and advance documentation practices within Canonical.
Ideal candidates are excellent collaborators and communicators with a strong commitment to functional written communication. They should possess a technical background, experience in software development contexts, familiarity with Linux, command-line operations, Git, and documentation markup languages like reStructuredText. A BSc/BA degree or equivalent is required, along with the ability to travel twice a year for company events.
