Canonical is seeking an Ubuntu Enablement Engineer to collaborate with leading OEMs, ODMs, and silicon partners to optimize Ubuntu on their hardware platforms. This role is integral to enhancing the Ubuntu experience for millions of users worldwide. The position is based in Taipei, Taiwan, and involves working within a globally distributed team dedicated to open-source innovation.

The Ubuntu Enablement Engineer will work closely with partners on platform bring-up, debug and prioritize issues, and escalate them to engineering teams as needed. Responsibilities include facilitating communication between Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams, conducting root cause analyses, and providing technical training to partners. The role also involves designing and providing factory support during production preparation and run, with occasional international travel to the EU, USA, Taiwan, and China.

Candidates should possess strong Linux kernel, boot, and system-level architecture skills, along with proficiency in Linux debugging and resolution. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are essential. An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university is required, with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path. The ability to be productive in a globally distributed team and good interpersonal skills for collaboration and customer engagements are also important.
