2026 Voyager Summer Internship - Laser Communication
Voyager Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Laser Communication team for a 10-week immersive program from June 8, 2026, to August 14, 2026. As a leading defense, national security, and space technology company, Voyager is committed to delivering transformative, mission-critical solutions. This internship offers hands-on experience in developing the next generation of laser communication terminals that operate without mechanical gimbals, enabling rapid beam movement between users.
The intern will be responsible for testing Position, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) software and hardware in both laboratory and field environments. Additional duties include conducting research, analysis, and documentation, participating in team meetings and training sessions, and contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Optics, with junior standing by fall 2026. Preferred qualifications include experience in aligning optics, including fiber optics, proficiency in Python and/or C++ programming, and an understanding of MAC and Ethernet IP protocols. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. The role requires the ability to lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds and travel for in-person orientation, program kickoff, and final presentation.
The internship offers an hourly pay range of $23.50 to $30.00, determined by academic year, college major, line of business, and geography. Interns will gain exposure to mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
