Assistant Accountant

In this role, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for preparing year-end accounts in readiness for client meetings. Managing a portfolio of clients using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage to produce accurate financial information is a key aspect of the job. The position may require occasional work at client premises, though this is rare. Additional duties include producing accurate client management accounts, reviewing client records prior to completing and submitting VAT returns, and supporting clients with their bookkeeping on an ad-hoc basis. Effective communication with clients via telephone and email is essential, as is ensuring compliance with local CCF systems and procedures.
Candidates should possess qualifications such as AAT Level 4, CIMA, or ACCA Part Qualified status. Experience with VAT, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent is required. General IT proficiency, particularly in Excel, is necessary. The role demands the ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously and work effectively as part of a team.
The compensation package includes a salary ranging from £22,000 to £25,000, depending on skill set, with potential for negotiation. Additional benefits comprise an NHS top-up scheme, 28 days of holiday including bank holidays, and an extra day off for birthdays.
