Associate Manager FP&A
The Associate Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) at Samsung Semiconductor is responsible for overseeing the financial lifecycle of the DSRA and SOC R&D labs. This role serves as the primary liaison between technical labs, Accounting, Human Resources, and Global Headquarters, ensuring that innovation efforts are supported by robust financial strategies. The position is based in San Jose, California, and reports to the Senior Director of Finance.
Key responsibilities include shaping monthly forecasts for the DSRA labs by monitoring headcount changes, software services, and capital expenditures. The role involves conducting in-depth variance analyses, particularly focusing on significant areas such as software licensing and outsourcing. Additionally, the Associate Manager manages financial system targets, including expense file uploads, man-month data, and revenue calculations, while collaborating with tax and accounting teams to update forecasts based on cash pooling and currency fluctuations.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in FP&A, project controlling, or corporate accounting. Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems and advanced Excel skills are essential. A strong analytical mindset is required, with a natural curiosity for project-based accounting and the ability to manage complex cost-allocation models. Effective communication skills are necessary to build relationships across various departments, including Legal, HR, and Engineering. The candidate should also be adaptable to a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift based on R&D needs.
