Divergent Technologies is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to join their team in Torrance, California. This role is integral to the development of flexible robotic manufacturing systems that are central to the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS). The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement advanced automation solutions, contributing to the company's mission of revolutionizing industrial manufacturing.
The Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA software and controls architectures for next-generation DAPS factories and modules. Key duties include contributing to automation standards and best practices, architecting new advanced automation systems, and developing controls systems for experimental processes in an R&D environment. Additionally, the role involves understanding and steering production operations requirements to enhance overall factory efficiency through better module development and data utilization.
Candidates should possess at least five years of industrial automation controls experience in dynamic environments and have proficiency in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming. Preferred qualifications include strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A standards, experience designing electrical control panels using EPlan or AutoCAD, and advanced experience with the Beckhoff TwinCAT and hardware ecosystem. Familiarity with industrial automation hardware, fieldbus interfaces, motion control, and industrial networking is also desirable.
Divergent offers a competitive compensation package, with salary ranges based on the level of the position. For this role, the pay range is between $111,300 and $192,780 USD annually.
