Business Development and Partnerships Lead, LATAM

Duolingo is seeking a Business Development and Partnerships Lead for the LATAM region, focusing on Mexico and Brazil. This role involves managing existing partnerships and developing new opportunities to drive user growth, brand awareness, and monetization. The successful candidate will collaborate with global teams, including marketing, design, product, and engineering, to implement strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities include leveraging market insights to develop and communicate an effective LATAM partnership strategy, leading existing partnerships across various sectors such as app stores, telecommunications, media, banking, public institutions, and payment providers. The role also involves expanding Duolingo's partnership portfolio by sourcing new opportunities with measurable impacts on key business metrics, building quantitative business cases to support strategic investments, negotiating and implementing partnerships, and collaborating with marketing teams to amplify partnership launches.

The ideal candidate will have over seven years of business development experience, particularly in digital consumer technology, with a proven track record in developing partnerships. Experience in consulting, banking, or business development is essential, along with the ability to manage partnerships throughout their full cycles. A deep understanding of the regional landscape, strong external relationship-building skills, critical thinking abilities, and proficiency in Spanish and English are required. The role also demands frequent international travel, especially to New York City, Pittsburgh, and across LATAM.

Exceptional candidates may have experience with mobile apps and subscription-based services, working proficiency in Portuguese, an MBA or equivalent experience, and a passion for making high-quality language learning accessible to everyone.
