Cloud Data Engineer, GOC
As a Cloud Data Engineer at WPP Media's Global Operations Centre (GOC), you will collaborate with teams across the United States, Europe, and Asia to develop high-impact solutions in a dynamic, multicultural environment. WPP Media is WPP's AI-driven media operating unit, integrating media, data, and partnerships to deliver creative personalization at scale. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing robust data pipelines and infrastructure that support our innovative data products and AI platforms.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and implementing data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Data Fusion, Cloud Functions, and Dataproc to ingest data from various sources. You will author, execute, and optimize complex SQL joins and transformations within GCP BigQuery to clean, reshape, and structure raw data into high-quality, usable assets. Additionally, you will assist senior engineering and analytics teams with data modeling and schema design to support our business intelligence and analytics use cases. Monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing data pipelines to ensure data quality, reliability, and performance will also be key aspects of your role.
The ideal candidate will have 2-4+ years of hands-on experience in a data engineering or similar role, with strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and transformation. Hands-on programming experience with Python for data processing tasks is essential. Experience working within a major cloud environment, particularly GCP, is highly preferred, though experience with AWS or Azure is also valuable. Familiarity with ETL/ELT principles and experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or Data Fusion are important. A collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are crucial. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
WPP Media is committed to fostering a culture of respect and equal opportunity, ensuring that all employees have the same opportunities to progress in their careers. We believe the best work happens when we're together, fostering creativity, collaboration, and connection. If you require accommodations or flexibility, please discuss this with the hiring team during the interview process.
