Commercial Counsel, APAC

Anthropic is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join its growing Commercial Legal team in Singapore. This role involves serving as a strategic partner to sales teams, leading complex negotiations and commercial deals to support expansion across the APAC region. The position offers an opportunity to establish Anthropic's legal foundation in Southeast Asia and the wider APAC region.

Key responsibilities include advising sales leadership on complex commercial deals, negotiating and closing agreements with diverse APAC companies, navigating regulatory compliance requirements across multiple markets, and designing scalable contract frameworks to support the growing APAC sales organization. The role also involves proactively managing legal and regulatory risks, anticipating emerging legal developments affecting AI technologies across APAC jurisdictions, and fostering relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.

Candidates should be qualified to practice law in Singapore or another common-law jurisdiction, with deep expertise in complex technology agreements and regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to the adoption of emerging technologies across APAC markets. Strong business judgment, effective communication skills, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach are essential. A strong understanding of AI technology trends and a commitment to responsible AI deployment are also important.

Preferred qualifications include at least 10-12 years of experience in relevant legal roles supporting commercial transactions across diverse client segments and industries, in-house experience at a technology company with APAC operations, exposure to AI or machine learning in commercial or regulatory contexts, and experience supporting sales teams in deal negotiations and client relationship management. Multi-jurisdictional experience across APAC markets and comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities are also advantageous.
