Manager, Commercial Counsel, GTM
Anthropic is seeking a Manager, Commercial Counsel, GTM to lead its legal team in shaping the deployment of cutting-edge AI technology to users, researchers, and enterprises worldwide. This role involves close collaboration with experienced colleagues who act as strategic partners, emphasizing rapid, creative, and cooperative efforts to support significant deals. The position focuses on supporting enterprise technology and startup Go-to-Market teams, managing enterprise agreements, customer negotiations, and initiatives related to team growth and scaling.
Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly GTM/Sales agreements with enterprise technology customers and startups. The role requires partnering closely with Sales and Go-to-Market leadership to facilitate deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance. Additionally, the position involves building and maintaining commercial legal infrastructure, such as contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements, as well as managing a team to support enterprise technology and startup segments. Identifying and escalating legal risks appropriately while supporting business momentum and staying current on legal developments affecting AI technologies are also essential duties.
The ideal candidate holds a JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar, with experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions. Demonstrated people management experience, including hiring, developing, and leading attorneys or legal professionals, is required. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts for non-lawyer stakeholders, are essential. Preferred qualifications include over eight years of legal experience, substantial time spent on commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions, active membership in the California state bar, and experience leading legal teams through high-growth phases at technology companies. A collaborative, low-ego approach, curiosity about AI technology and policy, and a commitment to responsible AI development are also valued.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $320,000 to $385,000 USD.
