Composites Manufacturing Engineer
Archer is seeking a Composites Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in San Jose, California. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and validating manufacturing processes for composite parts used in our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of sustainable air mobility by ensuring the production of high-quality aerospace components.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and validating manufacturing workflows for composite parts, assisting in the design of tooling and fixtures, generating manufacturing bills of materials, and reviewing engineering drawings and 3D models to ensure they meet design intent. Additionally, you will coordinate with external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and lead root cause corrective actions. Creating process plans and work instructions, supporting production planning, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield and reduce production costs are also key aspects of this position.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing critical composite aerospace components. A strong understanding of common composite manufacturing methods, proficiency in reading engineering drawings and interpreting CAD models (preferably NX), and knowledge of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP are essential. Familiarity with non-destructive inspection methods and excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills are also required.
