Court Reporter/Stenographer - Contractor Position
eScribers is seeking experienced stenographic court reporters to join our team as independent contractors. Established in 2005, eScribers has become a leader in providing reporting and transcription services for courts and government agencies across the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland. We are a private equity-backed company experiencing rapid global growth, with offices in Phoenix, Virginia, Maryland, London, Dublin, and Israel.
In this role, you will be responsible for attending in-person hearings in Nassau County, New York, and surrounding areas, with opportunities for remote work also available. Your primary duties will include making verbatim records of trials and legal proceedings, producing accurate typewritten transcripts in the required format, and acting as custodian of all exhibits during trials. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain records of all transcripts, notes, daily diaries, and bills as required by court rules and regulations.
Candidates must possess NCRA, NVRA, or NYSCRA certification credentials, or provide proof of successful completion of an accredited court reporting program. Legal eligibility to work in the United States is required, along with a high degree of professionalism and a commitment to meeting all deadlines. Applicants should have a high-speed internet connection, reliable transportation, and a current U.S. bank account to receive contract payments.
As an independent contractor, compensation is provided on a per-project or assignment basis, including daily appearance fees, transcription fees, and reimbursement for necessary travel expenses. Payments are made weekly via direct deposit. Selected candidates will undergo an onboarding process involving completion of required paperwork and familiarization with our workflow system. Priority for work assignments is given to those who maintain excellent quality standards in their submissions.
