Data Engineering Manager
As a Data Engineering Manager at Awin, you will lead a team of 6–12 data engineers dedicated to enhancing our Affiliate Marketing data platform. Your primary responsibility is to foster a collaborative environment where engineers take ownership, engage in continuous learning, and deliver reliable data solutions that support the business. You will provide technical guidance, remove obstacles, and promote strong engineering practices. Additionally, you will support hiring, career development, and the overall growth of the team.
In this role, you will create autonomous, high-performing teams, ensuring their growth and engagement. You will work closely with engineering, product, analytical engineers, and data scientists to build scalable AI-ready analytics solutions. Establishing clear ownership within the team and encouraging a culture of autonomy, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement are key aspects of the position. You will lead the delivery of data solutions, ensuring they align with business goals and adhere to good engineering practices. Partnering with product owners and engineering leaders, you will balance effort and impact, focusing on practical solutions that deliver real value.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of professional experience in data engineering, including more than 5 years in people management and technical leadership roles. A deep understanding of Ralph Kimball dimensional modeling best practices, including star schema design and data cube modeling, is essential to support scalable analytics and reporting. Experience in building and optimizing cloud-based data platforms and scalable data pipelines that support analytical model development and AI-ready analytics is required. Familiarity with data governance, security best practices, and compliance requirements is also important. Strong knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban, with the ability to shape and improve engineering processes, is necessary.
