Design Engineer, Airframe
Archer is seeking a Design Engineer specializing in airframe structures to join our team in San Jose, California. As a key member of our engineering department, you will lead the development of major structural airframe assemblies for our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, contributing to our mission of advancing sustainable air mobility.
In this role, you will be responsible for guiding airframe assembly designs from preliminary concepts through certification and manufacturing ramp-up. Your day-to-day tasks will include applying a deep understanding of load paths and design best practices to create robust structural configurations, developing company standards for composite and metallic part CAD models and drawings, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance and manufacturability requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of experience with lightweight structures in high-performance vehicles, a bachelor's degree in an engineering field, and strong proficiency in CAD software such as NX, Solidworks, Catia, or Creo. A comprehensive understanding of load paths, laminate design fundamentals, and experience with composite part manufacturing are essential. Familiarity with FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft and PDM systems is also required.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $172,800 to $216,000, determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
