Desktop Publisher

The Desktop Publisher position at Iverson Language Associates, a division of TransPerfect, involves collaborating with a team of full-time and freelance graphic designers and typesetters. This role focuses on managing the client project lifecycle through a combination of project management and hands-on desktop publishing tasks. Additionally, the Desktop Publisher will analyze and troubleshoot foreign language data for publishing products.

Key responsibilities include preflighting projects before translation by verifying all necessary assets, recommending appropriate fonts for target languages, and estimating time requirements. The role also involves preparing files for translation through activities such as extracting, cleaning up extractions, and road-mapping. Post-translation tasks include cleaning up translated files, following established style guides, managing text expansion issues, applying templates and formatting, localizing graphics, troubleshooting issues, and implementing production team changes.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage schedules with changing demands. The role requires multitasking in a fast-paced environment, meeting established deadlines, and collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team, regardless of distance, is essential. Experience in a production environment is preferred over a creative one.

Desired skills include 1-2 years of experience in multilingual desktop publishing and proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, version 2003 and later) and internet software. Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, FrameMaker, Vizio, InCopy, Photoshop, and PowerPoint is also advantageous.
