Digital Court Reporter - Contractor

eScribers is seeking experienced digital court reporters to join our team as independent contractors. Established in 2005, eScribers has become a leader in providing reporting and transcription services for courts and government agencies across the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland. As a digital court reporter, you will be responsible for attending and accurately recording legal proceedings in person within the Oakland and San Francisco areas, as well as surrounding regions. Opportunities for remote work and transcription assignments may also be available, depending on your experience. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate various availability.

Candidates must have successfully completed a training program or possess relevant reporting experience. Ownership of reporting equipment prior to onboarding is required. Applicants should be legally eligible to work in the United States, have knowledge of legal proceedings, demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, and commit to meeting all deadlines. Basic computer skills, including the ability to upload and download files, a high-speed internet connection, reliable transportation, and a current U.S. bank account for contract payments are also necessary.

This is an independent contractor role compensated on a per-project basis. Compensation includes a daily appearance fee, reimbursement for travel expenses if necessary, commissions on copy sales and exhibit handling, and weekly payments via direct deposit. Selected candidates will undergo an onboarding process involving completion of required paperwork, computer setup, and training on our workflow systems. Priority for assignments is given to court reporters who maintain excellent quality standards in their submissions.
