Digital Court Reporter - Contractor

eScribers is seeking experienced Digital Court Reporters to join our team as independent contractors. As a Digital Court Reporter, you will be responsible for attending and accurately recording legal proceedings, including court hearings and depositions. Your primary duties will involve capturing a clear and complete record of proceedings, ensuring all spoken words are accurately documented. Assignments may require in-person attendance for local and travel jobs, as well as remote work opportunities. Flexibility in scheduling is offered, and there is potential to take on transcription work based on relevant experience.

Candidates must have completed a training program or possess previous reporting experience. Ownership of personal court reporting equipment is required, including a multi-channel mixer and microphones for in-person assignments. Proficiency in using reporting software to capture the record is essential. Additional qualifications include a high degree of professionalism, commitment to meeting deadlines, and the ability to upload and download files using basic computer functions. A reliable mode of transportation and a high-speed internet connection are also necessary.

As an independent contractor, compensation is provided on a per-project basis. This includes a daily appearance fee, reimbursement for travel expenses when applicable, and commissions on copy sales and exhibit handling. Payments are made weekly via direct deposit. Priority for assignments is given to court reporters who consistently maintain excellent quality standards in their submissions.
