Dimensional Engineering
Archer, an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, is seeking a Dimensional Engineer to join their team. Archer is dedicated to advancing sustainable air mobility by designing and operating all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft capable of carrying four passengers with minimal noise. The Dimensional Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the precision and quality of the vehicle design architecture and assembly.
In this role, the Dimensional Engineer will define, develop, and execute dimensional management strategies for the complete vehicle design and assembly. Responsibilities include creating dimensional tolerance stack models using 3DCS, collaborating with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams to validate these models, and developing gaging and indexing strategies to enhance product dimensional quality. The engineer will also review and propose GD&T implementations, analyze and troubleshoot dimensional metrics, drive dimensional build activities during tooling tryouts, perform virtual builds from 3D scans, and support the development of Archer's dimensional management standards.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and at least three years of experience in dimensional engineering within a product development environment. Proficiency in GD&T (ASME certification preferred), experience with dimensional variation analysis (3D and 2D stack-ups), and familiarity with measurement systems and metrology equipment are essential. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as large bonded structures, hand-laid prepreg carbon fiber, machined metal, and formed metal is also required. Proficiency with NX or other CAD software, 3DCS or similar variation analysis software, and familiarity with PDM systems are important. Strong numeracy, logical reasoning skills, and knowledge of statistical analysis are necessary.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $176,000, with actual compensation determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The company fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment, emphasizing collaboration and innovation. Employees have opportunities for professional growth and development within a pioneering company in the field of sustainable air mobility.
